DETECTION FOR FORMING SLAG

PURPOSE:To detect the forming condition of slag accurately with time by projecting microwaves to the slag by means of an antenna from above the port of a refining furnace, detecting the reflected waves from the slag and measuring the reflectivity. CONSTITUTION:An antenna 6 of which the transmission and receotion directions are made veritcally downward is provided in the upper part of a converter port 1a, and the microwave signal from a microwave generator 20 is projected via a microwave circuit 10 toward slag 3. The microwaves reflected by the slag 3 are received with the antenna 6, and the mixed waves of the projected waves and the reflected waves are obtained with the circuit 10. The signals relating to the mixed waves are inoutted to a signal processor 30, by which the signal corresponding to the reflectivity of the microwaves in the slag 3 is obtained, and in accordance with this, the forming condition of the slag 3 is detected. Thereby, the precision blowing control is accomplished and the control of slag formation of dephosphorization etc. during blowing are accomplished properly.
