COLD ROLLING OIL

PURPOSE:To obtain a cold rolling oil, capable of rolling plates having a wide range of plate thicknesses and omitting the cleaning steps after the cold rolling, by adding a specific synthetic fatty acid, a specific ester and a necessary amount of a surfactant to a beef tallow. CONSTITUTION:A cold rolling oil obtained by adding (A) 1-10wt% synthetic fatty acid prepared by the thermal polymerization of a 18C unsaturated fatty acid, e.g. a mixture containing the unreacted monomer and trimeric acid, consisting of a 36C dibasic acid essentially, and prepared by the thermal polymerization of tall oil fatty acid in the presence of acid clay, (B) 5-80wt% ester of a 12- 16C fatty acid with a 3-12C aliphatic alcohol, e.g. propyl oleate, and (C) 0.5- 5wt% surfactant, e.g. a salt of a fatty acid, to beef tallow. The weight ratio between the components (A) and (B) is preferably 1:(7-20).
