PRODUCTION OF CARBON MATERIAL FOR DESULFURIZATION

PURPOSE:A mixed coal of nonbituminous and bituminous coals is mixed with a binder to adjust its properties properly and formed, then heat treated to produce a carbon material for desulfurization with high adsorbability and mechanical strength. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of nonbituminous coal with more than 5wt% bituminous coal is crushed and mixed with a binder such as pitch. Thus, its average reflection rate of the resultant coal composition is adjusted to 0.3-1.0, GP-MF, to 0-3,000DDPM; CSN, to 1X1/2 or 2 and RI, to 90-95. The resultant mixture is granuled by an appropriate method and heat treated, further, when necessary, activated with steam. Since the resultant carbon material is high in mechanical strength, it is resistant to pulverization, even when adsorption and regeneration are repeated many times, thus suitably used as a desulfurizer of a waste gas.
