Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To reduce the scale stuck on the surfaces of a hot-rolled strip of high temp. and to recover the heat contained therein by passing said strip in a fused salt tank provided with steam generating pipes, and conducting DC to the strip as cathode. CONSTITUTION:A hot-rolled steel plate 2' of high temp. is passed into a tank 6' which has a large number of steam generating pipes 3' and contains the melt of NaOH as fused salt 4'. The fused salt is heated and low temp. steam is generated in the pipes 3' to recover the heat retained by the plate 2'. In this case, with the steel plate as cathode and the tank 6' or a separately provided electrode 5' as anode, fused salt electrolysis is accomplished, whereby the Fe3O4 which is scale is reduced by the formed Na to Fe, and the scale is removed. Next, the steel plate is passed through the inside of a rinsing tank 7' whereby the fused salt stuck thereon is washed away and the production of the steel plate having no scale layers is made possible.
