Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain concentrated titled compound, in high yield, with little decomposition, by concentrating a dilute aqueous solution of a beta-lactam antibiotic substance in the presence of a lower alcohol with a permeable membrane made of a polyether amide or polybenzimidazolone. CONSTITUTION:A dilute aqueous solution of beta-lactam antibiotic substance containing a lower alcohol such as methanol in an amount of 2-20% (V/V) is concentrated with a permeable membrane made of a polyether amide or a polybenzimidazolone. The solute to be concentrated is cephalosporin, etc. and its concentration in the solution is pref. 0.01-5%. The PA-300 membrane, which is a polyether amide membrane, has excellent methanol resistance and can be used for a long period. Since the membrane does not inhibit the transmission of methanol, methanol can be freely transmitted to the permeated liquid. The permeation of the antibiotic substance into the permeated liquid is little, and the process is advantageous for the industrial performance.
