METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DEGASSING FILM ROLL

PURPOSE:To cause air layers involved in-between film layers to be moved to edges and discharge by a method wherein a degassing roll is pressed against a film roll rotated positively in the direction for tightening the roll, while keeping the axis of the degassing roll parallel to the film roll. CONSTITUTION:In the condition where the film roll 4 is placed on rolls 2, 3 at a film roll driving part 1 and is rotated in the direction for tightening the roll, a pressing part 6 is operated and a pair of pneumatic cylinders are synchronously operated so that the degassing roll 5 with its middle part enlarged is lowered by the extending of piston rods. When the largest diameter part of the roll 5 is pressed against the surface of the film roll 4, the lowering of the roll 5 is once stopped and this condition is maintained while the film roll 4 is rotated by several number of revolutions. Then, the degassing roll 5 is gradually lowered by operating the cylinders. Accordingly, the air layers in the film roll 4 are gradually moved toward the end faces of the roll 4 as the degassing roll 5 is lowered, the air layers are removed through the edges of the film roll 4 for discharging.
