PURPOSE:To realize an effective use of a limited memory region, by setting the function code necessary for a code table and the size of the data storage region corresponding to the function code in the form of the number of bytes each and then optionally deciding the storae region of an RAM. CONSTITUTION:Both the goods designation code and the unit price data are stored in a storage region 42 of an RAM40, and the unit price data is read and registered in accordance with the designation of the goods code. A code table 41 is provided to the RAM 40 to set and store the goods desingation code, the identifying function code such as the unit price data, the number of ordered articles, etc. and the code showing the size (number of bytes) of the region required for storage of the corresponding data. Then the function code and the code showing the size of information are read out of the table 41 when necessary to decide the contents of the region 42. Accordingly a limited memory region is used with high efficiency.
