TESTING DEVICE FOR FLOATING OF MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To obtain a device capable of measuring the best fitting attitude of a magnetic head, by providing a head arm, a means of changing its attitude, a reading means for the extent of displacement of the attitude, a piezoelectric element which detects the vibration of the head, and a body of revolution. CONSTITUTION:A head arm 3 which has an elastic member 2 holding a magnetic head 1 atop, attitude changing means 6 and 7 capable of changing the attitude of the head arm 3, and reading means 8 and 9 of reading the extent of attitude displacement of the head arm 3 are provided. Further, a piezoelectric element 5 which is arranged on the head arm 3 and detects mechanical vibration applied to the magnetic head 1, and a body 12 of revolution which revolves at a prescribed speed and floats the magnetic head 1 over the surface aerodynamically are provided. Then, a head-arm fitting member 4 is moved up and down through, for example, the rotation of a screw 6 and its extent of rotation is detected by a potentiometer 8; and its output and the output of the piezoelectric element 5 passed through an amplifier 10 are recorded on an X-Y recorder 11.
