Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide an antifouling paint which inhibits adhesion of aquatic organisms to fishing nets, ship bottom and underwater sturctures and the growth thereof, containing a specified maleamic acid. CONSTITUTION:A prim. amine or a polyamine is reacted with maleic anhydride of formulaI(wherein X, Y are each H, halogen, methyl, methoxy, acetoxy, phenyl) in an org. solvent to produce a maleamic acid of formula II, wherein R is a 2-80C n-valent org. group; n is 1-10. Then up to 40wt%, pref. 1-30wt% above maleamic acid is blended with an antifouling paint consisting of a vehicle such as oil varnish or an acrylic resin, a filler, a colorant, etc.
