CHLORINATED POLYETHYLENE COMPOSITION HAVING IMPROVED RUBBER PROCESSABILITY

PURPOSE:To improve the rubber processability of a chlorinated PE compsn., by mixing a chlorinated low-density PE having a high melt index with a chlorinated high-density PE having a low melt index in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:The powder of low-density PE having a melt index of 0.2-10.0 and a density of 0.91-0.93 is subjected to an aq. suspension chlorination treatment at a temperature not lower than the melting point of its crystal so as not to leave PE crystals intact as much as possible, to produce a chlorinated PE having a chlorine content of 25-40wt%. The powder of high-density PE having a melt index of 0.01-0.4 and a density of 0.94-0.96 is subjected to an aq. suspension chlorination treatment at a sintering temperature of PE so as not to leave PE crystals intact as much as possible, until the chlorine content of PE becomes 30-50wt%. 50-90pts.wt. chlorinated low-density PE powder and 50- 10pts.wt. chlorinated high-density PE powder are mixed together to obtain the desired compsn.
