VINYLOOGUAMIDORAZONE AND ITS PRODUCTION AND HYPOTENSIVE AGENTS CONTAINING SAME

Hydrazones of formula BNH-N-CR1-CH=CR2-NR3R4 (I), and their acid-addn. salts and isomers are new where B is a gp. of partial formula: R is any substit. other than H or forms part of a fused ring. R1 and R2 are H, lower alkyl or opt. substd. phenyl, or together form opt. substd. alkylene. R3 and R4 are opt. substd. aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbyl or opt. substd. phenyl or phenylalkyl, or together form an alkylene bridge opt. interrupted by a heteroatom. Also new are hydrazones (II) of tautomeric formulae B'-NH-N=CH-CH=CH-NH-NH-B" B'-NH-NH-CH=CH-CH=N-NH-B" (where B' and B" are as defined for B). Cpds. (I) and (II) are hypotensives analogous to hydralazine, but unlike the latter they do not cause increased cardiac frequency. Cpds. (II) are also useful as sequestering agents, e.g. for water treatment.
