PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator, capable of utilizing the upper part of the refrigerator effectively and optimum for a person, living alone while cooking his own food. SOLUTION: A refrigerator 1 is constituted of a refrigerating chamber 100, provided with an opening and closing door 10 and situated in the upper part of the refrigerator 1, a central vegetable chamber 200, equipped with drawer doors 20, 30 respectively, and a freezing chamber 300, situated in the lower part of the refrigerator, while a machine room 500 as well as a cooling chamber 502 are arranged behind the freezing chamber 300 and a cold air distributor 505 is arranged behind the vegetable chamber 200. In this case, the height H1 of the refrigerator 1 is designed so as to be 1100-1320 mm and the refrigerating chamber 100 as well as the vegetable chamber 200 are provided at heights not lower than 550 mm while the opening and closing door handle is provided at the height of 970 mm or more from the installing surface of the refrigerator.
