Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the automatic steering of a vehicle, regardless of the lane markers provided on a road surface by setting a traveling course based on the obstacle detection signals, vehicle position signals or the like, deciding a target traveling track, based on the set traveling course and running on the target traveling track. SOLUTION: Traveling instructions are decided in a traveling instruction process 23 for maintaining or changing the lanes, based on the information on the obstacles preceding a vehicle which are obtained by a laser radar 10 and the road information or the traffic information on a prescribed distance preceding the vehicle which are received from a communication device 15. When the traveling instructions are decided in the process 23, the more information on the traveling instructions are extracted and a point string showing a traveling course is set in a target point string extraction process 24. Based on this point string, a target traveling track is decided. A total plan ECU 13 transmits the vehicle steering signals obtained based on the target traveling track to a vehicle control ECU 22. The ECU 22 performs the automatic steering of the vehicle, based on the vehicle steering signals.
