Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting member for a wire capable of improving sliding properties, abrasion and chipping resistances to the wire and suitably carrying out a high-speed papermaking by composing an edge part at the tip of a member for coming into contact with the wire and supporting the wire of silicon carbide-based ceramics. SOLUTION: This supporting member 10 for coming into contact with a wire 12 and supporting the wire 12 in a paper machine is obtained by composing an edge part of at least the tip of silicon carbide-based ceramics, containing a metallic oxide as a sintering assistant and prepared by sintering in the liquid phase and having >=1,800 kg/mm Vickers hardness. The supporting member 10 for the wire 12 in a former part 1 is preferably formed of the silicon carbide- based ceramics having >=1,800 kg/mm Vickers hardness and a supporting member 20 for a felt 22 in a press part 2 is preferably formed of silicon nitride-based ceramics.
