Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise the yield from a rod-like material by a cutting apparatus that cuts the material into sections of preset length from the tip side by means of a rotary grinding wheel while intermittently feeding the material longitudinally along the top of its flapper table with a feed mechanism including rollers, by stopping the material tip in place with precision and shortening crops to the utmost. SOLUTION: A rod-like material cutting apparatus includes a flapper device 16, which is situated downstream from a rotary grinding wheel 56 in the feeding direction of a rodlike material 14 so as to turn downward to cause a crop 14A or tip-side short section below a preset dimension to fall off itself. A rear flapper table 18 constituting the flapper device 16 is designed to turn above the feeding plane of the material 14 and is formed with a stopper part 42 adapted to butt against the tip of the material 14 being fed thereto to position the tip.
