Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect ink drops stuck to a nozzle face of an ink jet recording head into a cap of a capping device. SOLUTION: In this device, a tip face of an ink drop holding member 2 provided in a cap of a capping device is brought into contact with ink drops stuck to a nozzle face 21 of an ink jet recording head 20. The ink drops are held in a gap formed between the nozzle face 21 and tip face of the ink drop holding member 2. When the cap is separated from the nozzle face 21, the ink drops can be collected into the cap.
