WATER PURIFIER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elute the silver at a fixed concn. into water over a long period by incorporating the ceramic filter medium of two-layer structure having a core obtained by depositing silver, a silver compd., etc., on a first ceramic and a shell consisting of a second ceramic into a water purifier having a chlorine removing function. SOLUTION: A city water inlet pipe 2 and a purified water outlet pipe 3 are attached to the vessel 1 of this water purifier, and a nonwoven fabric layer 6, an annular activated-carbon bed 7 and an annular ceramic filter medium layer 8 are provided in this order in the vessel 1 toward the inside between a rack 4 supported by the outlet pipe 3 and a frame 5. Silver is gradually dissolved into water from the ceramic filter medium layer 8 to conduct a fungistatic action. In this case, the filter medium 8 consists of a two-layer grain having a core obtained by depositing at least one kind selected from silver and silver compds. on a first ceramic and a shell consisting of a second ceramic, and the core is preferably formed from a porous first ceramic and the shell from a sintered dense second ceramic.
