THERMAL TRANSFER SHEET AND MANUFACTURE OF DECORATIVE CERAMIC BODY USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet for manufacturing simpler decorative ceramic body of a low cost than a method for decorating conventional ceramics and to provide a method for manufacturing the ceramic body using it. SOLUTION: A thermal transfer sheet 4 is obtained by depicting patterns 2 with colors containing pigment, frit powder and resin binder on an upper surface of a resin layer 6 made of thermoplastic resin and/or thermosetting resin formed on a release sheet 5 coated with release agent on a mounting sheet. The sheet 4 is placed on a ceramic substrate 1 so that the depicted surface is brought into contact with the substrate 1. After it is hot pressed, the sheet 5 is released, and baked to burn off the layer 6 and the binder. Then, it is sintered integrally on a surface of the substrate l in the state that the powder and the pigment are uniformly dispersed to manufacture the decorative ceramic body. This body may further be formed with a coating layer containing titanium oxide on its upper surface.
