The position of the gate plate 16 is shifted to a position which is determined depending on the kind, etc., of articles P supplied, by utilizing ten graduated projected parts 24 formed on a stroke plate 23 attached to the gate plate, and a proximity sensor 26 for detecting the approach of the gate plate. The article P are separated into articles which are dropped into the opening, and articles which are conveyed on the gate plate 16 to pass through the opening, and then to be supplied from the downstream end to the following process, and thus the quantity of supply can be adjusted.
