PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process the bearing hole of an output shaft from the direction identical to the aforesaid hole axial direction, and assemble parts thereto, and adjust backlash between a hypoid gear and a hypoid pinion in a short time. SOLUTION: In this power steering device where the device is provided with an input shaft 1, an output shaft 2 having a hypoid gear 9 connected with the input shaft 1 by way of a torsion bar 3 in such a way that they can be relatively rotated, and with a torque sensor 4 detecting the torque of the torsion bar 3, a hypoid pinion to be meshed with the hypoid gear 9 is provided for a motor shaft 14, and the rotation of the electric motor is transmitted to a rack shaft by way of a pinion 2a provided for the output shaft 2, an output shaft end located below the pinion 2a is supported by a bearing 27, and the aforesaid shaft end located above the pinion 2a is supported by way of a bearing 24, and let the hypoid gear 9 be attached to a housing 10 so as to be supported by a bearing 29. And furthermore, a backlash adjusting collar 30 is interposed between the bearing 24 and the hypoid gear 9.
