Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce compression data that can be decoded by a general decoder and a decoder with a special reproduction function. SOLUTION: An MPEG encoder 3 not only generates compression data under the control of an encoder control computer 5 but also generates group of picture GOP data for special reproduction in addition to the compression data and sub data with index data. That is, the MPEG encoder 3 generates compression data according to the MPEG system so as to have provision for all MPEG decoders and produces the sub data so as to have provision for a decoder with a special reproduction function.
