PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more efficiently use water between the outer tub and the spin drying basket in a washing machine in which a two layer structure washing tub is provided and the outvane of the agitator blade is used to feed water into the spin drying basket from the outside. SOLUTION: This washing machine 1 is provided with through holes 61a not at a side 62 but at a bottom 61 of a spin drying basket 6. An agitator blade 7 is provided at the bottom 61 of the spin drying basket 6 pivotally supported in an outer tub 5. When the agitator blade 7 is driven, an outvane 7a of the agitator blade 7 sucks water from under the dewatering tub 6 through the through holes 61a and feeds water into above the spin drying basket 6 through a water path 6a. The agitator blade 7 operates intermittently. Compared to a conventional spin drying basket with holes, more water can be reserved in the spin drying basket 6. The rotating time is set longer than the stop time so that a sufficient amount of water is reserved in the spin drying basket.
