Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 3-methoxy-1-propanol in a high yield using an easily available and inexpensive raw material by alkylating 1,3-propanediol with methyl chloride in the presence of a base. SOLUTION: This method comprises alkylating (A) 1,3-propanediol with (B) methyl chloride in the presence of (C) a base (e.g. sodium hydroxide) preferably at a C/A ratio of 0.5-50, if necessary, in the presence of (D) a catalyst, (e.g. potassium iodide) at 0.001-10 wt.% per total reaction mixture using (E) a solvent and other components, at 50-200 deg.C and 0.01-50 bar for 1 s-10 h. It is preferable that component B is added to the reaction mixture in gas state, and that the partial pressure of component B is 0.01-10 bar or so. It is preferable that, an excess amount of component A is used so as to serve also as component E. |
