Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for managing at least one part of a communication network, especially to provide a method and a device, for example, for performing the network management of a client within an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) communication network. SOLUTION: A predictor 13 is used for predicting the parameter of the bandwidth level or the like and for predicting the time when the parameter exceeds a capacity or a previous contract threshold value. These contract levels can be set by service level contract between a service provider and a client, for example. Moreover, the predictor 13 predicts how much excess amount is generated and how long such a condition continues as well. This information is supplied to the service provider/client and supplied to an agent provided with a computer system also. The agent performs negotiation with the other agent to act for the service provider in place of the client, so that new contract conditions can be provided between the two.
