Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter which can be speedily attached/detached and can block unexpected recycle. SOLUTION: Concerning an adapter 10 for attaching a fluid handling device to a catheter 12, this adapter is provided with a main body having a base end part 16, terminal part 18 and through opening passage 20. The passage is provided with a seat 2 for accepting the catheter and a cavity on the terminal side rather than the catheter seat. A gasket 26 is provided while being arranged in the cavity for forming a seal around the catheter when the catheter is located on the catheter seat. Further, the adapter has a retainer 30 and the retainer has a through opening arranged at the base end part of the main body while covering the gasket and practically aligned with the passage, and that opening is enough for allowing passing into the passage so as to be engaged with the gasket 26 and the catheter seat.
