Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection liquid crystal display whose structure is simple and whose power consumption is reduced and whose luminance and color purity are improved. SOLUTION: The display is constituted of a light source 2 for emitting light, a liquid crystal cell 4 installed in front of the light source 2 and through which light passes, a splitter 8 installed in front of the liquid crystal cell 4 and for refracting light projected from the liquid crystal cell 4, a projection lens 10 installed adjacent to the splitter 8 and for dispersing and spreading the refracted light and a screen 14 which is installed in front of the projection lens 10 and on which a phosphor film 16 is formed.
