Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compatibly use a first magnetic disk on which a servo signal recording area having ruggedness or the like is formed and a second magnetic disk having a flat surface. SOLUTION: Relating to this device, a first magnetic disk 3A on which a servo signal recording signal recording area having minute ruggedness or the like is formed and a second magnetic disk 3B having a flat surface are compatibly used. The recording and reproducing of an information signal or the like is performed by a magnetic head mechanism 23 having a floating characteristic with respect to a loaded disk 3. The specification of the loaded disk 3 is detected by a disk discriminating part 26 and when the first magnetic disk 3A is detected, the device rotatingly drives the first magnetic disk 3A at a speed higher than that of the second magnetic disk 3B by a rotary driving mechanism 22 to enhance the floating force of a magnetic head mechanism 23 and it suppresses the reduction of a floating height due to the influence of the servo signal recording area having the ruggedness or the like.
