SILK PRODUCT WITH ULTRAVIOLET-BLOCKING FUNCTION AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject silk product with high durability, useful for e.g. gloves by knitting/braiding or weaving silk yarns treated with an anti- yellowing agent to prevent ultraviolet rays from transmission through the silk product owing to the anti-yellowing agent to effect improving the sunscreening effect of the silk product. SOLUTION: This silk product 1 with ultraviolet-blocking function is obtained by the following procedure: silk yarns spun from cocoons are subjected to anti- yellowing treatment with an anti-yellowing agent such as a salicylic acid-based compound or benzophenone-based compound, and the resulting silk yarns are knitted/braided or woven into the aimed silk product which prevents ultraviolet rays from transmission therethrough owing to the anti-yellowing agent; wherein it is preferable that a raw fabric knitted/braided or woven using silk yarns spun from cocoons is subjected to anti-yellowing treatment using an anti- yellowing agent, or the surface of at least silk yarns of the knitted/braided or woven silk product is provided with an ultraviolet-blocking layer owing to an anti-yellowing agent.
