Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and efficiently producing the subject compound excellent in ultraviolet ray absorbability capable of providing e.g. resin with weather resistance of long duration and useful as a polycondensed ultraviolet ray absorbing agent by employing a specific methylene bisphenol compound as an intermediate for synthesis. SOLUTION: This compound is obtained by subjecting a methylene bisphenol compound [e.g. 3,3'-methylenebis(4-hydroxyphenetial alcohol)] of formula I (A is e.g. an 1-6C alkylene; and R and R are each e.g. OH) as an intermediate for synthesis to azo-coupling with pref. a compound of formula II (R is e.g. H) and compound (e.g. a hydrochloric acid liquid of diazonium salt of o- nitroaniline) of formula III(R is e.g. H) in a solvent and by reducing the resultant bisazobenzene compound in the condition of base, thus obtaining the objective compound of formula IV of e.g. 2,2'-methylene bis[6-(2H-benzotriazole-2- yl)-4-(2-hydroxyethyl)phenol]}. |
