ATM NETWORK MANAGEMENT DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate management of a network by establishing or opening physical connection in ATM switches based on an optimum path among a plurality of paths decided by a connection path control means using a connection setting means so as to allow an ATM network to be as if it were a single ATM switch. SOLUTION: A path from a caller ATM switch to an incoming ATM switch is retrieved by using an ATM switch physical adjacent table 22. In the case that the plurality of paths are in existence between them, a path minimizing number of ATM switches is selected. After deciding the path between them, which physical part is used in ATM switches between them by referencing to an ATM switch physical link table 21 is retrieved. When plural of paths are detected between them, a total sum of VCs set by physical ports at both ends of each path is calculated and the total sum of number of VCs of each path is compared. A path minimizing the total sum of the number of VCs is selected and physical ports of each ATM switch used between ATM switches are assigned.
