Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin solar cell which can be mass-produced highly efficiently and a method for manufacturing the solar cell. SOLUTION: A solar cell in which a P-N junction layer, a surface electrode, and a rear electrode are formed on a P-type silicon substrate 1 has a boron electric field layer 4, an SiO2 rear protective film 3, a grid-shaped aluminum electric field layer 10, and the grid-shaped rear electrode corresponding to the aluminum electric field layer 10 on the rear surface of the substrate 1. In a method for manufacturing the solar cell in which the P-N junction layer, front electrode, and rear electrode are formed on the P-type silicon substrate 1, the boron electric field layer and SiO2 rear protective film are formed on the rear surface of the substrate 1 before the rear electrode is formed and, after the grid-shaped aluminum electric field layer is formed, the grid-shape rear electrode is formed correspondingly to the aluminum electric field layer.
