Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for desalting phenol tar which has minimized many defects in the conventional technology. SOLUTION: The method for desalting phenol tar comprises mixing a tar containing salts with dilute orthophosphoric acid either batchwise or continuously, then settling the mixture into two phases of an organic phase and an aqueous phase and removing the aqueous phase containing nearly all salts from the organic phase. This method can remove not less than 90 wt.% tar and reduce the fouling and corrosion of downstream equipment.
