Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a twist on the tail end side of a hot slab and to increase a broadside rolling reduction by subjecting the slab to broadside pressing to a specified position from its tail end, idle feeding the slab and subjecting the slab to broadside pressing from the tail end while backward feeding the slab. SOLUTION: While the slab 10 is transported in a downstream direction of a line (arrow 11 direction in a progressing direction), the slab 10 is subjected to broadside pressing by metal molds 1a of a sizing press. The metal molds 1a of the sizing press have parallel parts at the canter and have sloping parts on the upstream side and downstream side of the line. When the slab 10 progresses to the prescribed position, the metal molds 1a of the sizing press are opened and the slab 10 is idle fed. While the slab 10 is fed backward toward an arrow 21, the slab 10 is restrained by outlet side pinch rolls 4 and is subjected to broadside pressing by the sloping parts of the metal molds 1a of the sizing press. The timing to idle feed the slab 10 is preferably before the slab 10 passes through the outlet side pinch rolls 2.
