Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for transmitting a stream of digital multimedia data on a distribution communications network. SOLUTION: A server is provided for segmenting a stream into data blocks on first and second boundaries. The first boundary indicates the number of sets of transport system packets, and the second boundary denotes the transport system packet including a time stamp. A scheduler schedules the blocks segmented for transmission. The server decodes the segmented blocks, finds out the time stamp and makes the transmission of data blocks coincident with the time value of the time stamp. The number of sets of transport system packets can be determined at the time of connection setting and does not become a prescribed value concerning all sessions.
