DOCUMENT FEEDER OF COPYING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save time and labor that the page number of a document is counted by manual operation by controlling the carrying of the document from a document housing part to a document reading position based on the page number corresponding to a cover stored in a storage means when the documents placed on a document placing part are all carried to the document housing part. SOLUTION: The document feeder 1 is provided with a 1st cover detection sensor 5a, a 2nd cover detection sensor 5b and document detection sensors 21a and 21b and a page number counting part provided with a page number storage part being a page number storage means. The feeder 1 is provided with a CPU controlling the copying processing part and the copying paper feeding part of a double-sided copying machine by receiving signals from the respective component parts of the feeder 1. By such constitution, the cover for partitioning document groups is detected in the case of carrying the document from a document placing tray 2 to a document housing tray 12. Since the page number corresponding to the cover is stored, the respective document groups are automatically partitioned and the respective page numbers of the respective document groups are automatically detected, whereby the user's time and labour are saved.
