Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To significantly extend the service life of pinch roll as compared to a conventional one even when the pinch roll is adopted to a width press device of a high temp. slab by suppressing occurrence of heat crack on an arbor surface and mounting sleeves, which mitigate the bending stress generated at an arbor center part, to both end parts of the arbor. SOLUTION: By eliminating direct contact between an arbor 7 and a high temp. steel 2, to reduce the thermal stress applied on a surface of the arbor 7, generation of heat crack is suppressed. Further, sleeves 6 having a certain length are mounted to both end sides of the arbor 7 to reduce bending stress with pinching force, thus reducing a growth speed of the crack. A length of the sleeves 6 is decided so that the bending stress, which is applied to the arbor 7 in transferring a high temp. slab, is reduced in an allowable range, taking into account the diameter of the arbor 7 and the thickness, weight, etc., of the sleeve 6. Further, the sleeve material is preferably a relatively inexpensive 13Cr heat resistant steel.
