Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject resin having a highly regulated molecular weight without any problems in malodor, etc., by radically polymerizing an alkenyl carboxylate in the presence of a diphenylethylene. SOLUTION: (A) A monomer consisting essentially of an alkenyl carboxylate is radically polymerized in the presence of (B) 1,1-diphenylethylene in an amount of 0.01-1 wt.% based on the component A to produce the objective resin. The component B can be used alone or diluted with an organic solvent (e.g. benzene) for use. Vinyl esters of fatty acids such as vinyl acetate, vinyl esters of aromatic carboxylic acids such as vinyl benzoate and diallyl phthalates, etc., such as diallyl phthalate are cited as the alkenyl carboxylate. The polymerization can be carried out by a continuous or a batch process according to a bulk, an emulsion, a solution, a suspension polymerizations, etc. A radical polymerization initiator, etc., are preferably used at the time of polymerization.
