Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine for preventing or treating connective tissue diseases, exhibiting more excellent effects than those in a case where the inhibitors against the enzymes are separately used, by allowing to have inhibiting actions against matrix metaprotease and cathepsin. SOLUTION: This medicine for preventing or treating connective tissue diseases has inhibitory actions against both the enzymes of matrix metaprotease(MMP) and cathepsin. Concretely, the medicine for preventing or trating connective tissue diseases contains, for example, a MMP inhibitor and a cathepsin inhibitor as active ingredients. The MMP inhibitor is preferably [4-(N- hydroxyamino)-2(R)-isobutyl-3(S)-methylsuccinyl]-L-phenylglycine-N-met hylamide, etc., and the cathepsin inhibitor is preferably L-trans-epoxysuccinyl-leucylamide(4- guanidino)butane. When a compound having inhibitory activities against both the enzymes is used as an active ingredient, a new compound of formula I [A is a group of formula II or III (Ar is phenyl); R is a 1-6C alkyl; R and R are each H, a natural amino acid side chain or the like] is preferable.
