FUEL ASSEMBLY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a foreign matter capturing means capable of sufficiently reducing the increase amount of pressure loss on a lower tie plate, and integrally manufacturing the lower tie plate. SOLUTION: A fuel assembly 1 has fuel rods 2 and water rods 3 arranged in the form of a square lattice of 8×8, a lower tie plate 4 provided with a fuel rod support lattice part 4A supporting the lower end of the fuel rods 2 and the water rods 3, an upper tie plate 5 holding the upper end of the fuel rods 2 and the water rods 3, a spacer 6 holding the fuel rods 2 and the water rods 3 at prescribed intervals, and a channel box 8 surrounding the outer peripheral part of the above structure. Each foreign matter filter is constituted of four arm members projected to the upstream side of the fuel rod support lattice part 4A so as to partition each coolant passage mutually connected by the edge end into four areas.
