DATA TRANSFER DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape head capable of transferring high-density data by a design on space saving. SOLUTION: Tape-head structure has a tape supporter 20, in which edge guides 22, 24 are mounted at both ends and a place of which is fixed, and is constituted so that a tape 26 as a recording medium is made to travel between these edge guides 22, 24. The tape supporter 20 has a groove section 30 formed in the vertical direction to the travelling direction of a tape at a center, and a read/write converter 28 is housed slidably in the groove section 30. The end section 40 of the converter 28 is engaged with helical gears 34, 36, 38 arranged to the lower section of the tape supporter 20 and driven by a motor. According to the constitution, the converter 28 can be positioned on a desired track by controlling the motor 32 because the converter 28 can be reciprocated in the vertical direction to the progressive direction of the tape 26 in response to the operation of the helical gears.
