METHOD FOR OBTAINING STARTING THRESHOLD FOR AUTOMATIC BRAKING PROCESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the safe driving by detecting at least one quantity to indicate the behavior of a driver, and obtaining the starting threshold for the automatic braking process based on the quantity to meet the starting threshold to the behavior of the driver for appropriate automatic braking process. SOLUTION: The starting threshold vgs for the automatic braking process is determined based on three quantities to indicate the behavior of a driver, i.e., the respective operational speeds vg, vk and vga of an acceleration pedal, a clutch pedal and a shift lever. The values vg-am, vk-am and vga-am to detect the maximum value of the present operation are reset, and when the acceleration pedal is first operated, the operational speed vg is compared with vg-am, and when vg>vg-am, the present value vg is stored. Then, at the inoperable position where no acceleration pedal is operated, the floating mean value is obtained from the mean values vm and vg-am of the preceding operational speed. Then, when the clutch pedal is operated, the starting threshold vgs to start the automatic braking process is obtained after the similar treatment.
