Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium material for raising paddy rice seedlings having a suitable pH and excellent in water absorbability and fertilizer preservability and restoring to the original state in an extremely short time after irrigation as an inexpensive and light weight medium material for raising paddy rice seedlings by utilizing peat-moss. SOLUTION: This medium material for raising paddy rice is composed of peat-moss as a main component and zeolite in an amount of 10-20 wt.% of the peat-moss, a surfactant and a pH adjuster, and is press-molded to a platy or granular state. Preferably, a polyoxyalkylene alkylether in an amount of 0.1-0.5 wt.% to the peat moss is contained as the surfactant and a fertilizer may further be contained, as necessary. The composition is press-molded under 200-300 kg/cm when shaped to platy or under 1,000-3,000 kg/cm to granular shape.
