COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system where communication is kept waiting for only a short time even when channels of a nearby public base station are busy. SOLUTION: When a special number to receive a specific service is dialed by a portable terminal when a channel is busy (YES at SA3), a public base station sends a signal representing presence of priority connection to a busy portable terminal to allow the user of the busy portable terminal to conduct the prompt operation to prompt the end of communication (SA5). Upon receipt of a speech end signal denoting acceptance of the end of speech from any of the busy portable terminals (YES at SA6), the busy line of the portable terminal being cutoff (SA7), connection change over is conducted for the terminal (SA8). In the case that a call comes in to a portable terminal managed by a user himself when the channel is busy and a prescribed mode is set, the busy user is prompted to end the communication and the channel used for the called portable terminal is reserved.
