SOLUTION: In the boring method of the seamless steel tube by an inclined roll, a boring plug 2 is arranged so that the maximum diameter part 2a is positioned in a gorge part 1b of the inclined roll 1 having a barrel type body to bore a stock billet 5. The boring plug 2, whose length of the forward part from the maximum diameter part 2a is shortened, is preferably used to bore the billet so that a distance from a boring starting point to the gorge part 1b in the boring plug 2 falls within a fixed value.
