AUTOMATIC INFORMATION DEVICE/METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic information device/method which recognize connection to a terminal adapter and reduce consumption current. SOLUTION: A polarity inversion detection part 11 detects the polarity inversion of a voltage applied to a telephone line connection terminal and detects an incoming call signal. A CPU 16 oscillates a clock by an interruption processing when polarity inversion is detected. When the incoming call signal is inputted without polarity inversion, polarity inversion is considered when the incoming call signal exceeds a predetermined threshold and the clock is oscillated by the interruption processing. When the automatic information device is connected to a terminal adapter 25, a setting switch 290 is operated. The CPU 16 inhibits the oscillation of the clock by inhibiting the interruption processing when the automatic information device is connected to the terminal adapter 25 by a signal from the setting switch 20.
