HIGH-PURITY ALUMINA FILTER AND METHOD FOR SEALING END FACE OF ITS FILTER ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic filter using a metallic O ring without using a synthetic-resin packing. SOLUTION: This filter has a gas inlet 23 on one end, a gas outlet 24 on the other end and a space 25 to be loaded with a ceramic porous filter element 26 for filtering a gas sent from the gas inlet in the center of the inside. The element is loaded in the space in the housing 21 divided into two parts in the longitudinal direction which are engaged and joined at a stepped joining part 22 while leaving a gap for passing the gas on the periphery. The end of the element on the gas inlet side is closed by a dense ceramic plate 28, a dense ceramic flange-type support 22 is joined to the other end, and the support is interposed with the two metallic O rings 31 and 32 at a fixing gap 33 furnished inside the joining part of the housing to fix the element in the space of the housing.
