Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide for production, etc., of licC, having high identity to nucleic acid sequence coding licC polypeptide of a specific amino acid sequence, derived from a specific microorganism and useful for screening, etc., of an antimicrobial compound. SOLUTION: This new isolated polynucleotide comprises a polynucleotide having at least 70% identity to polynucleotide coding licC polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence represented by the formula and is used for production, etc., of licC polypeptide derived from a microorganism of the genus Streptococcus, e.g. Streptococcus pneumoniae and useful for screening, etc., of antimicrobial compounds. The polynucleotide is obtained by screening a DNA library containing complete gene of Streptococcus pneumoniae with a probe comprising a partial DNA, etc., of licC polypeptide and isolating the DNA.
