AUXILIARY POWER MECHANISM OF WHEELCHAIR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary power mechanism of a wheelchair that can be attached in a single operation to the wheelchair with which a user is familiar, and that can reduce the burden on the user by providing power assist on hills, allowing the user to live a safer and more active life. SOLUTION: A main body 3 mounted on the underside of a wheelchair 2 is provided with a driving wheel 4 energized toward the surface G of a road located immediately below the axis O of the wheel 2b of the wheelchair 2, an inclinometer 5 obtaining the inclination angle of the wheelchair 2, a motor 6 supplying torque proportional to the inclination angle obtained to the driving wheel 4, and a control part 7 for the motor 6. When a clamp 3b enabling the main body to be attached to the wheelchair by tightening the lower frame of the wheelchair with a toggle mechanism is provided, the auxiliary power mechanism 1 of the wheelchair 2 can be very easily attached to the wheelchair 2 in a single operation.
