Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful for screening of an antibacterial compound, treatment and diagnosis, etc., of bacterium infection, comprising a gid A1 polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence having high identity at various levels to a specific amino acid sequence. SOLUTION: This new isolated gid A1 polypeptide is composed of an isolated polypeptide containing amino acid sequences having at least 70% identity, 80% identity, 90% R identity and 95% identity to an amino acid sequence of formula I or formula II in whole length of the formula I or the formula II, an isolated polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence of the formula I or the formula II or an isolated polypeptide, etc., of an amino acid sequence of the formula I or the formula II and is useful for screening of an antibacterial compound, treatment and diagnosis, etc., of Staphylococcus aureus infection. The polypeptide is obtained by probing a chromosome DNA library of Staphylococcus aureus with a labeled oligonucleotide derived from a partial sequence and manifesting the resultant polynucleotide with a recombinant technique.
