When all the parameters are already registered, scan is executed according to the registered parameters. At that time, the scanner 2 detects the size of the original, and supplies it to the personal computer 4. The scan soft sets the scan range and resolution to a value corresponding to the original size according to the size of the original supplied from the scanner 2, and operates reading.
